Drugs worth Rs5b found in onion sacks exported to Malaysia

Malaysian authorities have seized drugs worth Rs5 billion from a consignment of onions sent from Karachi. The consignment contained 100kg of cocaine and 411kg of methamphetamine. An emergency message sent to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) by Malaysian authorities, stated that the Malaysian police have recovered more than 500kg of drugs from a container loaded with Pakistani onions. The letter sent by the Malaysian authorities said that on October 27, 2023, the Malaysian Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and customs conducted a joint raid on a warehouse in Cheras Prima, Malaysia, and found the drugs in onion sacks loaded on a container. According to the document, the Malaysian authorities have arrested five local suspects, all aged between 21 and 53, under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act. An emergency message has been sent to the FBR and TDAP in Pakistan by Malaysian authorities. The Pakistan Customs Preventive has registered a formal FIR on this matter. Two Pakistanis have been arrested on charge of drug trafficking. The suspect Chaudhry Nadeem has been detained at the Karachi airport while leaving for Thailand. Sources said that the authorities in Pakistan have also arrested the clearing agent Amir Ali Khan. Sources said that the company in whose name the goods declaration (GD) was filed was the second GD of this company.
