The Sindh High Court has sought a report on December 12 from provincial government, Child Protection Authority (CPA) and others on a petition to implement child protection laws and prevent child trafficking. A two-member bench headed by Acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi held a hearing on the petition. The petitioner's lawyer stated that the provincial government has made laws for child protection, but they are not implemented. Child Protection Authority has been established, officers are appointed, they are getting salaries and benefits, but they are not performing their duties. No work is done in the province unless the court intervenes. The government has built welfare centres for children, but nothing is done for them, only the structures of the buildings are constructed. Children are being trafficked abroad from the province. People come from abroad and take children with them by giving money to charity organisations.
